Each child at Welly has the opportunity to spend a week at forest school, with their colour group and key person, during the Spring/Summer term. Forest school is a type of outdoor education in which children visit forests/woodlands, learning personal, social and technical skills.
We use the Rectory garden of Horfield Parish Church which has been uniquely adapted for Forest school. At Welly we have specially trained staff who organise and plan the forest school adventure.
Typically this might include climbing the tree house, building dens, making bread rolls to cook on the camp fire and generally enjoying the great outdoors. This is fully funded by the pre-school and is often regarded as one of the most memorable times in the pre-school year for both children and staff.
